Since August 2007 the nursing directors of the three Nursing Education Consortium (NEC) undergraduate nursing school partners collaborated on the design of an online calendar system to optimize the clinical experience of nursing students.

At 5:30 PM Room 117 at Northwest Technical Institute is abuzz with excited conversations in English, Spanish and Marshallese. The teacher calls the class to order. Sixteen intense and motivated students turn their attention to their work for the evening. The class is the Bilingual Nursing Scholars Initiative (BNSI) Enrichment Session.

Meeting Minutes for 11/28/07

An outgrowth of its June annual meeting and Strategic Planning retreat was decision for NEC to review and update its bylaws, corporate articles and filings. The planning assessment noted that NEC’s role and functions have expanded significantly in the past three years. It has enhanced its initial efforts to raise scholarship money into five broad nursing education program areas.

The NEC Board maintains its fast pace from April, continuing through the end of the academic year in May. May is the wrap-up month for both NEC and BNSI activities.
